About the Poem

A wry poem about how the English celebrate Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot, which suggests that in future we should adopt the American practice of naming national disasters by the digital date on which they occurred. Except the Americans haven't mastered the order of dates yet, so to them November 5th would be 11/5, not 5/11.

What a Guy

November the 5th, bonfire night
The gunpowder plot of treason
Will, from this day forward,
Be know as five-eleven.
