About the Poem

Only after I'd finished writing Bee and Bee did I discover that humblebees and bumblebees are the same thing. Just as Marathon bars became Snickers and Opal Fruits became Starburst, the humblebee was rebranded in the nineteenth century to become the bumblebee. Forget all that for a moment and enjoy the poem for what it is - a funny poem written in a state of ignorance.

Bee and Bee

The bumblebee buzzes
From flower to flower

As does the humblebee,
But with head bowed lower.
